Japanese Slipper
Midori, triple sec, lemon juice.
Neon green and Japanese melon. An eighties vintage cocktail that never dates.
On the palate: sweet and fruity. Goes down easy, no overthinking.
Created in 1984 by Jean-Paul Bourguignon at Melbourne's Mietta's, curiously far from Japan. Midori melon liqueur was the 'exotic' ingredient of the day, and the fluorescent green made it a disco icon. Today it's a cocktail museum piece, respected by bartenders for its flawless simplicity.
