Created in the fifties by Harry Yee at Waikiki's Kaiser Hawaiian Village, the Blue Hawaii rode the blue-curaçao wave, the blue liqueur that conquered bars half the world over. Rum and vodka together make it stronger than classic tiki, but the postcard look stays intact. The drink that made electric blue an acceptable colour in a glass.
