Don the Beachcomber created it in the thirties for a customer facing a university exam, and called it Zombie because 'it turned him into a zombie for two days'. The original recipe stayed secret for decades, with numbered ingredients to throw rivals off. Don Beach capped customers at two Zombies a week: still good advice.
